Laupahoehoe Music Festival

Get your flip flops and grass skirt ready because it’s almost time for the 15th annual Laupahoehoe Music Festival! The festival is scheduled for April 25th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Laupahoehoe Beach Park on the northeastern coast of the Big Island. Tickets are on sale now and can be picked up online or around town. You won’t want to miss this!

Live Island Music

There’s nothing better than listening to Hawaiian music with the forest as your backdrop and the sound of the waves crashing over the rocks. Performances by several talented local artists will be spaced out over the course of the day. This year’s lineup includes:

·        Hula Halau O Kou Lima Nani E

·        Randy Lorenzo

·        The Brown Boys

·        LCPCS Students

·        Kalapana Awa Band

·        Kolea

Tickets are $20 at the gate or $15 if you pick them up ahead of time. Kids 10 and under are FREE. You can buy tickets online at the Festival Website or pick them up at one of three locations around the Big Island: Papa’Aloa Country Store and Café in Papaaloa, Basically Books in Hilo, or Laupahoehoe CPC School. All proceeds from the festival will go toward supporting the Laupahoehoe Community Public Charter School (LCPCS).

Besides the Music

Just because it’s a music festival doesn’t mean you only have to listen to music. In addition to the live performances, there will be plenty of food, games and handmade crafts available. While you’re swaying to the beat, send the kids off to the bouncy house and try your hand at lei making.

As with any good festival, of course there’s going to be great local food. Laulau, adobo, pastele, Kalua plates, ahi poke bowls, nachos, cookies and shaved ice will all be available – and that’s just the beginning! Ever wanted to learn how to make poi? Well, now you can! There’s going to be a FREE poi pounding demonstration.

There’s going to be plenty of food and drink available at the festival, so you don’t need to bring a cooler.

Donations Support LCPCS Students

In addition to all the free activities that will be available at the festival, there will also be carnival games and a silent auction to raise money for LCPCS students. If you have any questions regarding the festival, visit the Laupahoehoe Music Festival website or call the event hotline at 808.962.2200.

Come on out April 25th from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. and listen to some incredible island music to help a good cause. I hope to see you there!
